Equity Packaging is seeking a Technical Manager of New Business Development - US to support growth in the United States by bringing technical depth into the new business process. This role will help win complex opportunities by partnering with commercial leadership, understanding customer requirements, and translating those requirements into executable packaging solutions. This position is ideal for someone who understands packaging technically, can engage customers credibly, and can help bridge the gap between commercial opportunity and operational execution.
This role exists to strengthen Equity Packaging’s front-end commercial capability in the US market by adding technical leadership to the business development process. The person in this role will help improve win quality, reduce technical ambiguity in customer conversations, and support the growth of strategic accounts.
Responsibilities- Support US new business development efforts with strong technical-commercial engagement.
- Participate in prospect and client discussions to understand solution needs, packaging complexity, sourcing considerations, and delivery expectations.
- Help define solution concepts that are commercially attractive and operationally feasible.
- Partner with the global technical team on strategic account development and proposal support.
- Work closely with regional technical directors, and operating teams to validate technical and execution assumptions.
- Assist in developing proposals, scopes, technical narratives, and implementation logic.
- Help identify technical risks, cost drivers, and feasibility concerns early in the sales cycle.
- Support high-value presentations and technical discussions with customers.
- Contribute to growth in adjacent service areas where Equity Packaging can differentiate.
- Improve alignment between customer expectations, solution design, and delivery readiness.
- Strong technical background in packaging, packaging development, and engineering support.
- Experience supporting customer-facing commercial efforts in the US market.
- 12–15+ years of total professional experience in the packaging industry (Food, Beverage, CPG, Pharma).
- Min. 5–7 years of "Deep Technical" experience: (e.g., Packaging Engineering, R&D, or Product Development) where you have personally owned specifications and technical trial outcomes.
- Min. 5–7 years of "Commercial/NBD" experience:
Proven track record in a customer-facing role (Technical Sales, Applications Engineering, or Solution Consulting) where you were responsible for translating customer needs into successful commercial proposals. - Must have experience handling complex, multi-site accounts and managing stakeholders at the Director and VP level.
- Able to communicate with both technical stakeholders and business decision-makers.
- Strong consultative mindset.
- Able to operate across multiple functions and global teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
- Experience with packaging services, packaging innovation, sourcing, or complex packaging-related solutions.
- Experience in technical sales support, applications engineering, solution consulting, or commercial engineering.
- Exposure to working with strategic accounts, CPG, retail, industrial, or adjacent customer environments.
This role gives Equity Packaging stronger front-end technical selling capability in the US market. It enables the company to pursue larger and more sophisticated opportunities with greater confidence, while reducing overdependence on the President for technical-commercial leadership.
