BOUT THE ROLE

Techno is growing its transportation operations team and is looking for a Railroad Operations Coordinator to support major rail and transit infrastructure initiatives throughout New Jersey. This role will coordinate operational activities, construction interface efforts, service impacts, and communication between project teams and rail operations personnel within an active transit environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced working in fast-paced rail operations or transportation settings where safety, scheduling, and operational continuity are critical.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Coordinate day-to-day operational activities related to active rail and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Serve as a liaison between project teams, field personnel, contractors, and rail operations staff to support safe and efficient project execution.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of track outages, service impacts, work windows, flagging activities, and operational schedules.
  • Monitor operational constraints and communicate potential impacts, conflicts, or delays to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support review and coordination of construction schedules to align with railroad operational requirements and maintenance activities.
  • Track operational issues, incidents, action items, and project coordination activities while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Participate in project meetings, coordination calls, field reviews, and operational planning discussions.
  • Assist with development and implementation of operational procedures, safety coordination measures, and service continuity plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction management, safety, and operations teams to support ongoing project delivery efforts.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal departments and external partners in a highly regulated transportation environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Transportation, Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting railroad operations, transit coordination, transportation projects, or rail infrastructure programs.
  • Familiarity with commuter rail, transit operations, track access coordination, or railroad construction activities strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in active rail environments with multiple operational stakeholders is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of railroad safety procedures, operational coordination, and transportation project environments.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced operational settings with shifting schedules and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project coordination/reporting tools.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights or weekends, depending on operational and project requirements.

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $50 - $80 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
