Job Description:Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Compliance Field Inspector Manager to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing construction work plans and regularly reporting on compliance and environmental permitting requirements.
Program background:The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the country – a comprehensive set of rail investments that will improve commuter and intercity services, add needed resiliency and, in its later stages, create new capacity between Newark, New Jersey and New York City, the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The first phase of the Gateway Program includes the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), which includes the construction of a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York as well as the full rehabilitation of the existing 110‑year‑old North River Tunnel.
The Gateway Development Commission (GDC), established through bi‑state legislation, is responsible for the financing and development of the Hudson Tunnel Project.
- Perform field audits of environmental documentation and field activities
- Review and prepare written technical reports documenting environmental construction compliance
- Report inconsistencies, environmental permitting requirements and contract specifications to the environmental compliance team
- Provide oversight of construction as it relates to environmental compliance
- Ability to interpret scientific data and specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology or a closely related discipline
- 10‑15+ years of prior experience performing construction site inspections
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to travel throughout the NY/NJ Metro Area
- Valid driver’s license
- Prior experience providing environmental inspections in and for NY, NJ and/or NYC agencies
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training (and current refreshers)
