Application Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Application Engineer to join our team, serving as the critical link between customer needs and the development of efficient and profitable automated machinery solutions. This is a full-time, on-site position which requires occasional travel to meet customer and project demands.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement:
Collaborate with customers and the sales team to understand the application requirements and define product specifications.
Solution Development:
Design machine concepts and configurations that meet customer needs while ensuring technical feasibility and safety.
Proposal Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of accurate quotes, including technical descriptions, material estimates, and performance assumptions.
Project Coordination:
Facilitate a seamless transition from proposal acceptance to engineering and operations, ensuring all requirements and assumptions are clearly documented.
Support and Improvement:
Provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and developing standards.

Performance Metrics

Timely and accurate completion of technical proposals.
Alignment of proposed solutions with customer requirements and company capabilities.
Effective management of cost and margin protection through comprehensive estimates and risk visibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of three years of experience in applications engineering or related roles.
Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, and familiarity with automated machinery systems.
Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools and standard business software; familiarity with ERP, CRM, or quoting systems is advantageous.
Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Preferred Experience

Experience with custom machinery, automation, or robotics.
Background in cycle-time analysis, cost estimating, and factory acceptance testing.
Exposure to ISO 9001 quality management systems or structured operating systems.

This position is based in the greater Newark, NJ area, and involves on-site work with no remote options available.
