Position Summary/Overview

The Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance and Reliability Engineer is the site’s technical authority for electrical systems, responsible for improving reliability, ensuring safety compliance, and leading modernization of aging infrastructure across the Newark facility. This role owns electrical standards and E&I maintenance strategies while supporting day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Engineering - Provide engineering support for installed instrumentation and electrical infrastructure, including day-to-day instrument and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Maintenance Engineering - Assist operating areas in specification of replacements for obsolete equipment and drive standardization of future equipment purchases.
  • Maintenance Engineering - Support incident investigations and RCFAs.
  • Maintenance Engineering - Own and update interlock testing procedures.
  • Reliability Engineering - Establish and own electrical maintenance programs, including switch gear and breaker PMs, infrared inspections, motor testing, and protective device testing.
  • Reliability Engineering - Develop and execute long-term strategies for replacing and upgrading aging electrical equipment (20+ years old), including switch gear, transformers, and MCCs.
  • Reliability Engineering - Lead reliability improvement efforts using root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and performance monitoring.
  • Reliability Engineering - Lead site backup power strategy, including defining critical loads and evaluating cost-effective solutions such as generators and UPS systems.
  • Electrical Safety & Standards - Lead development and implementation of updated site electrical safety standards aligned with current industry practices.
  • Electrical Safety & Standards - Define requirements for PPE, voltage-rated tools, and safe work practices.
  • Electrical Safety & Standards - Establish equipment safety standards including finger-safe designs and UL-listed components.
  • Electrical Safety & Standards - Own arc flash compliance, labeling, and mitigation programs.
  • Electrical Safety & Standards - Ensure proper electrical system design, load management, and long-term distribution planning.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Delaware in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of industrial experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, or reliability
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems and electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP and MaintainX)
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE Licensed in Delaware
  • Experience with aging infrastructure replacement and modernization
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Experience leading electrical safety programs or standards updates
