Under the supervision of the Manager of the Welcome Center/Financial Aid, the Student Support Service Representative is responsible for assisting all prospective students to complete FAFSA, make an appointment with FA-officers, cover phones, tracking and providing support for an assigned cohort of Essex County College Students.
Please Note: Essex County College does not provide visa sponsorship of any kind. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and for the duration of employment.
Compensation:
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $$20 per hour.
Supervisory Role
Duties & Responsibilities
- 1. Assist students with completing their financial aid for classes, and financial planning.
- 2. Assist student with using Essex County College, Moodle, MYECC Portal and Web Services
- 3. Assist students in understanding the require documentation
- 4. Demonstrate the ability to provide quality customer service to students.
- 5. Perform general clerical activities and provides support in relation to financial aid services.
- 6. Provide guidance and information to students on the college, and available student resources, both academic and non-academic.
- 7. Collaborate with representatives from any departments to resolve student issues.
- 8. Understand and interpret college policies to inform students of program requirements, college policies, and regulations.
- 9. Make referrals as needed to tutoring, crisis counseling, or other student support services.
- 10. Maintain strict confidentiality of student aid information, records and data in accordance with federal, state and institutional requirements and regulations.
- 11. Participate in professional conferences, training, and professional development opportunities.
- 12. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student records.
- 13. Perform other related duties as required.

Additional Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 1. High School Graduate
- 2. Be available for all mandatory department training
- 3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- 4. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- 5. Demonstrated knowledge of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite operations and Web-Browsing ability.
- 6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- 7. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- 8. Excellent time and project management skills.
- 9. Strong record-keeping and assessment skills.
Minimum Education Requirements High School Diploma
Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.)
