Broadridge Payroll Tax Specialist
Key responsibilities include:
- Proactively monitor payroll tax compliance changes, legislative updates, and regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Lead research of state and local tax jurisdictions to ensure ongoing compliance and proper payroll tax setup.
- Perform payroll tax reconciliations for weekly and semi‑monthly payrolls.
- Review and balance wages and tax liabilities by pay group for each pay period.
- Assist associates with tax‑ and payroll‑related inquiries, providing accurate and timely guidance.
- Interpret payroll policies and tax regulations to ensure the correct application of tax with holdings, benefits deductions, and garnishments.
- Process and issue Forms W‑2c, including prior‑period and prior‑year adjustments and wage reclassifications.
- Conduct peer reviews of payroll transactions processed by Payroll team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Research and resolve complex and critical payroll tax issues while meeting established payroll service level agreements (SLAs).
- Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities; document department procedures and maintain/update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with federal and state payroll audits, including labor department audits, state withholding discrepancies, federal tax filing inquiries, and related documentation requests.
- Support quarterly and year‑end payroll tax processes to ensure accurate filings and reporting by the tax service provider.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain payroll tax compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of payroll tax experience, preferably in a multi‑state payroll environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll reconciliations, tax adjustments, and quarter‑end/year‑end payroll tax processes.
- Experience handling W‑2c corrections, prior‑year adjustments, and tax reclassifications.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret payroll policies, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
Salary: 80,000.00 – 90,000.00 USD annual. Bonus Eligible.
