Assistant Controller

Job Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity in the banking industry located in Bridgewater, New Jersey. The position is for an Assistant Controller, where the key responsibilities include overseeing various accounting functions and supervising the accounting team. The role also requires proficiency in different accounting software systems and a strong ability to multitask.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the equity tracking systems for restricted stock units, phantom stock cash plan and for the ESPP Plan.
• Oversee all functions of the Accounts Payable Department.
• Ensuring that General Ledger and Official Check account reconciliations are prepared / reviewed on a timely basis.
• Manage the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings.
• Quarterly oversight of accrued expenses to ensure appropriate levels are maintained.
• Manage the third-party Lease tracking system (Lease Query).
• Manage the Purchasing and Corporate credit card functions.
• Manage annual tax return preparation schedules and provide quarterly tax provision support as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or MBA a plus.
• At least seven years of General Accounting and supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to manage high-volume departments in a demanding environment.
• Experience with Ascend/Banktel and Lease Query software programs is a plus.
• Must be an organized, accurate, reliable and detail minded individual.
• Must have good oral and written communications skills, including the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in Excel is required.
