PAY RATE: $18.50 per hour
Position Purpose/
Summary:
The ACH Clerk is responsible for supporting the daily processing and maintenance of Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions for the credit union. This position performs routine ACH processing functions, research discrepancies, assists with member inquiries, and ensures transactions are completed accurately and within established deadlines. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Due to the nature of this role in dealing with our members on an on-going basis, the position requires (and is not limited to):
- Process Escheats as well as daily ACH transactions, including incoming and outgoing files.
- Review and process ACH returns, Notifications of Change (NOCs), stop payments, and reversals.
- Verify transaction accuracy and identify processing exceptions.
- Assist with balancing and reconciling ACH settlement reports.
- Monitor ACH queues and complete assigned tasks within required time frames.
Member and Branch Support
- Respond to ACH-related inquiries from members, branches, and internal departments.
- Research and resolve transaction discrepancies and member concerns.
- Assist members with direct deposit, preauthorized payments, and ACH disputes.
Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Ensure ACH activities comply with NACHA rules, credit union policies, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of ACH transactions.
- Report unusual or suspicious activity to management.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare ACH reports and maintain operational logs.
- File and organize ACH-related records and documentation.
- Provide general support for Deposit Operations and Electronic Services functions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of clerical, banking, credit union, or financial services experience preferred.
- ACH or Deposit Operations experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of banking or credit union operations.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
