Job Summary

This role is responsible for conducting all aspects of the intelligence analysis and project review functions required in support of Standard Chartered New York’s Financial Crime Intelligence Unit’s (“FCIU”) Strategic Intelligence Group (“SIG”). The FCIU conducts intelligence reviews and generates and delivers intelligence reports, bulletins, threat assessments, training decks, and programmatic presentations on emerging financial crime threats, geographies, products, or industries presenting complex financial crime risks to SC NY, the SC network, and matters associated with clients of concern.

SIG creates and executes intelligence reviews and intelligence alerts focused on identifying the highest financial crime risks to the bank and in alignment with the US Department of Treasury’s National Priorities, and institutional client reviews as well as identifies broader trends, corridors, and emerging financial crime risks to the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Be aware of and execute the prescribed strategy of Regional SCB leadership in day-to-day operations, as related to mitigating financial crime risk and meeting or exceeding current and relevant future regulatory compliance requirements

Business

  • Continually monitor the external environment through various internal/external sources and the media to identify financial crime risks which may potentially impact the bank in the future, map and assess those risks, quantify the potential impact and escalation where necessary.

Processes

  • Provide subject matter expertise on financial crime compliance, drawing on financial intelligence and law enforcement networks, professional qualifications and experience.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing analytical findings, including visual aids and executive summaries utilizing technical skills in data visualization and analysis tools, to effectively communicate insights and trends to stakeholders.
  • Conduct research using internal and external sources and resources (to include business, operations, compliance, open-source web searches, local and international regulatory and advisory bodies) to proactively produce strategic and tactical intelligence products.
  • Identify instances of potential financial crime or suspicious activity, AML/CFT risk concentrations, and non-compliant transactional activity and make appropriate and timely internal referrals and escalations to US Investigations, Sanctions, Client Services/Business, FCC Management or applicable Governance bodies.
  • Work closely with the US Investigations Unit to support the timely filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (“SAR”) with the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, for cases sourced from intelligence reviews. Work closely and collaboratively with CFCC and the business (first line of defence) in the identification and remediation of risk concentrations identified during intelligence reviews.
Day to Day Tasks
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports utilizing visualization tools such as Power BI to present data in a clear and actionable manner. Lead and mentor intelligence officers, providing guidance and support in data analysis and visualization techniques. Identify financial crime risk through patterns, trends and typologies, and in preparing analytical summaries with clear and concise research as well as calibrated assessments.

    Identify opportunities for the team to provide trainings to internal stakeholders. Draft training materials and execute internal trainings.
