The New Jersey Attorney General’s office is looking for a Research Analyst 2 for the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs,Office of the Director, Drug Affordability Unit in Newark, NJ. Come join the Division of Consumer Affairs as a Research Analyst 2 in the Drug Affordability Unit (DAU). The position will perform analytic review and interpretation of data relevant to the operations and mission of the DAU in order to inform policy decisions related to drug price transparency.

The Analyst will develop public-facing static and interactive data reports to promote and improve public understanding of prescription drug affordability, conducting prescription drug price data analysis, including review of drug price increases and new drug notification and reporting requirements. The annual salary for this position ranges from $64,340.11 to $94,061.71.

The Attorney General has broad oversight of the state’slegal and law enforcement matters.

As the head of the Department of Law & Public Safety, the Attorney General supervises a wide range of Divisions, Offices, and Commissions, consisting of over 2,800 sworn law enforcement officers, 600 attorneys, and thousands of other public servants.

ABOUT THE DIVISION:

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs protects the public from fraud, deceit, misrepresentation and professional misconduct in the sale of goods and services in New Jersey through education, advocacy, regulation and enforcement. The Division pursues its mission through its 51 professional and occupational boards that oversee
720,000 licensees in the state,its Regulated Business section that oversees 60,000NJ registered businesses, as well as through its Office of Consumer Protection, Bureau of Securities, Charities Registration section, Office of Weights and Measures, and Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission.

ABOUT THE SECTION:

Since its creation in 1978, ODCA has played a valuable role in protecting consumer interests. ODCA has been an Office of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and has primarilyconcentrated on enforcing consumer legislation and providing information to consumers.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
  • Analyze drug pricing databases and external data sets to inform decisionsby the DAU.
  • Use a number of different data sources to develop reports, publications and data visualizations for Drug Affordability Council (DAC), state, legislative stakeholders, and public audiences.
  • Use available data to create annualpricing and spendingtrends for annual reports.
  • Support special projects as assigned.
  • Manage an interactive dashboard tool for prescription drugs notification and reporting – to ensure pharmaceutical entities submit data to support the price increase and new drug notifications and reporting.
  • Analyze data to conductreviews on price increases and new drug notification and reporting.
  • Support and analyze the database/portal for the Drug Affordability Unit Fee Assessment. And report out the status and updates on fee assessments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in legal or legislative research or similaradministrative experience involving public contact with an emphasis on the review and analysis of operating and legislative methods, procedures, and policies.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
  • Possession of a master’s degree in public administration, Political Science, Government, or other relevant area from an accredited college or university; and one (1) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
  • Possession of a Juris Doctor degree or Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited law school.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in healthcare, economics, or prescription drug industry knowledge. Experience with statistical methods and knowledge of python and tableau.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
