New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Summary

The State University of New Jersey (Rutgers) is seeking a per‑dime Research Assistant for the Pediatrics department within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the position is to conduct specialized epidemiologic surveillance and research under the supervision and direction of the study investigator.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Adhere to field procedures as stipulated in the NJ Autism Study Field guide.
  • Abstract and record relevant medical, sociodemographic, and diagnostic information onto computerized abstraction forms.
  • Edit data, check printouts, code, and prepare data for upload to the main database.
  • Perform basic computer functions in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Assist in data analysis.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant area (Psychology, Medicine, Public Health, Education, or related field).
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CITI (human subjects research) certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing; no special vision requirements.
  • Office environment with moderate noise.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to travel by car to sources in the surveillance area (must provide own transportation).
Offer and Benefits
  • Salary: $15.49–$150,000 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and agency or grant funding.

Position Status

Per‑dime; working hours: 40 hours per week; standard daily shift: day; staff 12‑month appointment; non‑exempt per FLSA.
