Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Rate: Up to $70/hour on W2

Work Authorization: U.S. work authorization required (no sponsorship)

Engagement: W2 only (no C2C, no 1099)

Overview

JSR is seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with deep experience in HR data and people analytics to support enterprise workforce data initiatives within a financial services environment.

In this role, you will partner closely with Human Resources, Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance, and business stakeholders to translate people-related business needs into scalable data solutions, trusted datasets, and actionable insights. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, solid HR domain knowledge, and the ability to bridge business requirements with technical delivery in a regulated enterprise setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with HR, Talent, Compensation, Workforce Planning, DEI, and Finance stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear functional and data requirements
  • Elicit, document, and manage business requirements, data definitions, source-to-target mappings, and acceptance criteria for people data initiatives
  • Analyze HR data domains including employee demographics, headcount, attrition, hiring, compensation, performance, learning, and organizational structures
  • Support data product development across the people data ecosystem, including data pipelines, dashboards, metrics, data quality rules, and governance artifacts
  • Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and product owners to ensure requirements are feasible and aligned with enterprise data standards
  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency through data profiling, reconciliations, and UAT testing
  • Define and maintain business definitions, KPIs, and metrics for people analytics in partnership with data governance teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR reporting automation, self-service analytics, and overall data usability
  • Support regulatory, audit, privacy, and data security requirements related to employee data
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences through documentation, presentations, and working sessions
  • Drive continuous improvement in business analysis practices and people data maturity
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Analytics, HR, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role in an enterprise environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with HR data, people analytics, or workforce data
  • Solid understanding of HR processes such as recruiting, onboarding, compensation, performance management, and workforce planning
  • Proven experience gathering and documenting business and data requirements (BRDs, FRDs, user stories, data dictionaries)
  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
  • Experience working with large datasets, data warehouses, and data integration pipelines
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies
  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with HR platforms such as Workday, Success Factors, ADP, or similar systems
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks
  • Knowledge of employee data privacy and compliance requirements (PII, GDPR, etc.)
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or Databricks
  • Business-to-technical translation
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Strong attention to detail and data quality mindset
  • Collaboration and influencing skills
  • Clear documentation and data storytelling
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
