About the Role
You'll be Elsevier's front line for AI adoption across some of the most important research and government institutions in the world. Working across Leap Space and our broader AI portfolio, you'll take complex opportunities from first conversation to close. This isn't a support or overlay role. You own the cycle, drive the narrative, and shape how customers think about what AI can do for their mission.
This position covers all AI solutions in Elsevier’s Academic and Government portfolio, including Leap Space, AI in Life Sciences and Engineering, AI in software and workflow solutions, as well as future AI developments. This role will act on behalf of Elsevier’s AI offerings to position Elsevier as a trusted partner and leader in responsible, transparent AI for research.
- Building and closing strategic opportunities for Leap Space and Elsevier's AI portfolio across universities, research agencies, government bodies, and consortia.
- Run the full customer cycle; discovery, qualification, solution design, and close working closely with Account Managers and technical teams.
- Lead solution sessions that make advanced AI capabilities land with senior institutional leaders.
- Own the hard conversations governance, compliance technical objections and RFPs.
- Brought market intelligence back into the business; competitive signals, unmet needs, and where AI adoption in research is actually heading.
- Represent Elsevier in strategic customer briefings, conferences and industry events.
- Have 3–5 years in AI/ML solution consulting, research workflow technology, or complex SaaS pre-sales, ideally with academic, government, or large institutional customers.
- Can hold your own with a CTO and a Dean in the same week, navigating senior technical and non-technical stakeholders without switching into two different people.
- Able to make complex things clear, not by dumbing them down, but by finding the right frame for the right audience.
- Are comfortable with the technical landscape:
SaaS platforms, APIs, data infrastructure, and how AI-enabled products actually work. - Able to run your own deals.
- Organized through long cycles, no script needed, and you don't confuse activity with progress.
- Have real opinions about where AI in research is heading, and the curiosity to keep updating them.
