System Programmer/Administrator IV (IdM Senior PAM Engineer)

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Programmer/Administrator IV (IdM Senior PAM Engineer) in the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) / Project Management Office with the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The role reports to the IdM OIT Director and will act as a highly skilled resource to promote and facilitate the implementation of an enterprise-wide Privileged Access Management (PAM) solution, serving as the PAM subject‑matter expert (preferably familiar with Cyber Ark).

The employee will work collaboratively with Identity Management (IdM), Internet Security Organization (ISO), Security Operations Center (SOC), and other IT teams to provide strategic guidance, architectural leadership, and training on the PAM suite within the OIT organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the PAM project champion in collaboration with a Cyber Ark consultant during the initial project phase.
• Technically plan, lead, develop, and deploy PAM solutions in accordance with industry best practices and organizational requirements.
• Design and implement a privilege‑access‑management training plan for identity and access management, SOC, and IT operations teams.
• Drive planning and execution of PAM use cases, roadmaps, and technology enhancements.
• Prioritize PAM capabilities based on Rutgers security and business requirements.

Minimum

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent, with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in IT.
• 3–5 years of experience with PAM solutions, preferably with Cyber Ark.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of administration, configuration, and troubleshooting on PAM modules such as Enterprise Password Vault (EPV), Password Vault Web Access (PVWA), Central Policy Manager (CPM), Privileged Session Manager (PSM), Privileged Session Management Proxy (PSMP), and Privileged Threat Analytics (PTA).
• Experience administering Windows desktops and servers, RHEL, and Solaris environments.
• Proficient in identity and access management technologies (SSO, MFA, SAML, IGA, LDAP, AD, etc.).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the higher‑education domain.
• Cyber Ark certification (preferred but not required).

Salary Range (Grade 37S): $121,608 – $175,737 (mid‑range $147,221). Final offer subject to qualifications, experience, and funding.

Work Details: Full‑time, 37.5 standard hours per week. Hybrid work arrangement may be available per Rutgers Policy 60.3.22.
