Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Transition Manager to lead the end-to-end transition of application support services from one vendor to another while ensuring business continuity and operational excellence. The Transition Manager will be responsible for planning, governing, and executing transition activities that include knowledge transfer, operational readiness, resource onboarding, and successful transition to steady-state operations.

The Transition Manager will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, project managers, and vendor organizations to ensure seamless execution of transition activities. This role requires expertise in transition planning, governance, ITIL service management, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

The Transition Manager will establish governance structures, oversee operational readiness, manage risks and issues, and ensure compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations. The ideal Transition Manager has a strong background in large-scale service transitions and enterprise managed services.

Responsibilities Transition Planning & Execution
  • Lead end-to-end transition programs for application support, infrastructure, cloud, and managed services engagements.
  • Develop comprehensive transition plans, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Manage transition execution while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Drive transition-to-operations handoff activities.
  • Support service stabilization following transition completion.
Knowledge Transfer & Operational Readiness
  • Coordinate Knowledge Transfer (KT), shadowing, and reverse-shadowing sessions.
  • Ensure operational readiness before production handoff.
  • Define transition acceptance criteria.
  • Validate knowledge acquisition and sign-off.
  • Ensure readiness of support teams before steady-state operations.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
  • Establish governance frameworks and reporting structures.
  • Prepare executive status reports and governance updates.
  • Manage RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams.
  • Facilitate executive communication throughout the transition lifecycle.
Process & Service Management
  • Define support processes, SOPs, runbooks, and escalation procedures.
  • Develop operational documentation and process standards.
  • Ensure adherence to ITIL best practices.
  • Monitor SLA compliance during transition and stabilization.
  • Improve operational efficiency through standardized processes.
Risk & Resource Management
  • Identify and mitigate transition risks and issues.
  • Manage assumptions and project dependencies.
  • Coordinate resource onboarding and access provisioning.
  • Ensure environment readiness and tool configuration.
  • Support compliance with contractual obligations and service requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 3 5+ years leading transition management or service onboarding programs.
  • Experience managing transitions for Application Management Services (AMS).
  • Proven success delivering enterprise transition and managed services programs.
