Position: Lead, Material Handler 3 - Sun - Wed (Days)

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direction to Forklift Operators, training, assigning work, and resolving problems within area of responsibility. Operates gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment equipped with lifting devices, such as sit‑down, stand‑up, clamp or other elevating equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials from rail cars in distribution center or storage yard.

Responsibilities
  • Supports and trains newly hired forklift operators within their area of responsibility.
  • Assists supervisors and management of the facility in planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Loads, unloads, moves, stocks, and stages products and materials using powered industrial equipment.
  • Maintains equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion and inspects assigned equipment on a daily basis.
  • Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.
  • Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations, efficiently stacking and storing product in the appropriate areas.
  • Pulls and prepares products for shipment, ensuring the exact number and types of products are loaded and shipped.
  • Efficiently moves product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.
  • Ensures inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage, reporting quality variances.
  • Inventories materials on the work floor and supplies workers with materials as needed.
  • Follows customer requirements and/or other instructions to ensure accuracy: load count, stability of product, and that all products are loaded and unloaded safely.
  • Coordinates as necessary with all other departments/functions, especially Customer Service, Transportation, and Maintenance.
  • Performs good housekeeping practices, following a clean‑as‑you‑go process.
  • Conducts operations and equipment in a manner that promotes safety and reports unsafe conditions that can’t be self‑corrected to the leadership team.
  • Follows corporate and site‑specific Good Manufacturing Practices and reports non‑compliance when observed.
  • Observes all company safety rules and assists in enforcement as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift Operator with rail‑specific experience.
  • Must be able to successfully complete post‑hire assessments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g., OSHA, company, etc.).
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work environment (protective footwear, protective eyewear, gloves, etc.) in accordance with safety policies.
Schedule

Sunday - Wednesday 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
