Job Summary

Responsible for batch formulation, mixing materials, quality color matching/tinting, and quality of finished product processing within the duties and functions of the department.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines and use required safety equipment.
  • Maintain quality and cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
  • Follow batch formulations prescribed by Central Labs and incorporate approved materials for proper dispersion.
  • Use electro gauges, valves, temperature controls, flow meters, and other equipment to add materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Mix materials and perform quality control checks for dispersion approval, then transfer to the next step.
  • Use electronic information systems to control material additions, check inventory, and manage batch completion.
  • Ensure batches are properly transferred into scheduled tanks for thin‑down, color matching, and tinting.
  • Communicate with other departments for proper transfer of completed dispersion to milling, shading, and filling/packaging stages.
  • Maintain efficiency of material flow by checking and changing filters as needed.
  • Utilize color spectrophotometer and eye shading expertise to match batches to customer specifications.
  • Re‑utilize resources for re‑work materials according to approved procedures.
  • Be willing to work and cross‑train in other departments frequently.
  • Maintain forklift or other related equipment by checking battery, charger, and hook‑ups.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work seamlessly with the Shading Department to execute quality mixing and shading of paint batches for dispersion to the filling line for packaging.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic math skills (addition/subtraction).
  • Previous experience and demonstrated ability to accurately match color specifications.
  • Team‑oriented with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and cleanliness.
  • Ability to use company software and computer system programs.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely and follow SOPs.
  • Ability to operate fill‑by‑weight machine, video jet, labeler, palletizer, case packer, can and carton computer, and depalletizer.
  • Physical requirements:

    frequent sitting, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; ability to lift 10‑75 lbs.; continuous standing 6‑8+ hours; ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. continuously; ability to climb stairs; ability to kneel/stoop/bend up to 50% of time; ability to perform fine hand manipulation, pushing, pulling, reaching.
  • Ability to use respirator and proper PPE (eye protection, safety shoes).
  • Availability to work overtime (up to 4 hours past scheduled shift) and weekends as required.
