AboutThe Role
The Logistics Operator is involved with the successful daily operation of the AAK Port Newark, NJ facility on a 5‑day a week, day‑shift basis. Some daily and weekend overtime is necessary. The position requires attention to detail, good record keeping, and the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
Responsibilities- Rail cars – loading and offloading
- Loading tank wagons in load out and outside near Tank Farm 1, Spot 5, Spot 7, TF 4, Warehouse
- Tank wagon – offloading
- CBE – set up heating and off‑loading
- CBE – trailer breakdown and clean up
- Warehouse – packaging product in totes, drums, and pails
- Warehouse – shipping, receiving and administration
- Maintain daily/weekly/monthly housekeeping outside the production building/refinery/Tank Farms and inside stairwells and other areas as directed
- Maintain sanitation standards for assigned areas
- Loading vegetable oil in railcars/tank wagons and accurately completing documentation
- Follow procedures to safely off‑load rail cars/tank wagons/CBEs/totes/drums
- Zero lost time injuries while performing job
- Assist refinery operators in tasks requiring additional manpower
- Use forklift and other company tools and equipment in a proper and safe manner
- Assist with packaging, shipping, and maintaining warehouse organization
- Assist maintenance employees with their tasks as able and requested
- Communicate effectively with day supervisor on issues and problems that may occur
- Report all incidents to Supervisor/Manager
- Participate in company activities such as Safety Committee, Audit committees, employee task force, Kaizen Teams etc. Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste
- Follow company PPE policy and ensure it is administered on site
- Proper documentation and data entry
- Understand and follow environmental protection policies set forth by company
- 8 hour OSHA on site safety training
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Forklift certification (preferred)
- Ability to operate manual or electrical pallet jacks
- Computer literate
- Strong problem solving and math skills
- Strong equipment troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), time management and organizational skills
- 2-3 years in related field or related experience in manufacturing facility (preferred)
