Key Responsibilities
50% - Lead Tutoring Initiatives
  • Support fall tutoring programming at Reading Partners Newark locations.
  • Assist with the day-to-day implementation of tutoring sessions and other literacy programming.
  • Conduct student assessments as assigned.
  • Support student and tutor attendance, scheduling, and program coordination.
  • Provide in-person guidance and support to tutors using the Reading Partners Connects digital curriculum and platform.
  • Help ensure students and tutors have a positive, welcoming, and engaging experience.
  • Identify program needs and communicate challenges, successes, and opportunities to the Reading Partners team.
  • Support special literacy initiatives and events throughout the fall.
30% - Community and Family Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, tutors, schools, and community partners.
  • Attend community events, school events, resource fairs, and other outreach opportunities on behalf of Reading Partners.
  • Support efforts to recruit and engage families and volunteers via in-person distribution of marketing materials and resources.
  • Assist with online and in-person tutor orientations and onboarding activities for community members and families.
  • Support and facilitate family literacy workshops and family engagement activities.
  • Conduct outreach and follow-up with families, volunteers, and community partners as needed.
  • Help connect families with Reading Partners programs, literacy resources, and opportunities for continued engagement.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Reading Partners and its mission throughout the Newark community.
10% - Collective Impact Expansion and Reporting
  • Help identify opportunities for Reading Partners to deepen its presence and impact within the Newark community.
  • Support the distribution of outreach materials and community resources to expand partnership work.
  • Assist with tracking community engagement, partnership activities, participation, and other program data.
  • Participate in partnership meetings, community events, and Reading Partners team meetings as needed.
  • Take on special projects that support Reading Partners Newark’s growth and impact.
10% - Other Duties as Needed How you’ll do it:

Relationship Management & Communication
  • Forge and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders in building a community of literacy. Cultivate strong internal relationships with peers and support managers as needed. Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively as an ambassador of Reading Partners externally.
  • Possess a strong aptitude for effective communication with program team members and other Reading Partners staff. Be able to set up strong systems for communication.
Project Management
  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively manage time, balance multiple competing priorities at once, and, above all, and remain adaptable, flexible, and positive while navigating challenges.
