• Active NJ RN License or Multistate RN License with NJ Endorsement
• BLS certification through American Heart Association
• BSN Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
• Minimum two (2) years supervisory/leadership experience

The Assistant Director of Patient Care is responsible for assisting the Patient Care Director in ensuring the optimal delivery of care and service to patients and families in their designated areas. Leadership facilitates interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with all members of the health care team, patients, and families by communicating with unit-level staff, medical staff, and department managers to promote coordination of services;

collaborating with Education Specialists/APNs to meet educational needs of the unit staff; acting as a liaison between family, patient, physician, and staff. Balances professional and personal pursuits; facilitates effective patient relation initiatives including hourly rounding standards and regulatory readiness. Ensures excellence in clinical nursing practice and delivery of safe patient care by monitoring implementation of the plan of care with clinical outcomes;

maintains adherence to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center policies and procedures; maintains regulatory readiness works with Director of PCS; utilizes performance improvement process to improve the quality of patient care; participates in nursing policy formulation and decision making; supports professional practice enhancing the clinical environment for retention of qualified staff; participates in recruitment and selection of personnel for hire. Works with Director of PCS and Division Educator to facilitate appropriate orientation, training, and continuing education for personnel.

Evaluates, counsels, and disciplines staff on their job performance; completes performance evaluations in required timeframe. Demonstrates principles of self-care and supports members of the health care team in self-care practices. Aligns organizational conduct with ethical and professional standards. Supports the healthcare environment by ensuring effective, appropriate utilization of human, fiscal, and material resources by assuring appropriate utilization of staff based on competencies, job responsibilities, and patient needs;

develops monthly time schedules, allocating resources efficiently, and providing balanced staff distribution on duty for all shifts throughout the year with input of schedule into Ansos per reset schedule. Works with Director of PCS to monitor the unit's budget and control variances; monitor LOS with open communication with all the health care disciplines.
