Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care and medical support services to clients receiving treatment for substance use disorders. The LPN assists in monitoring clients’ physical and mental health status, administers medications as prescribed, maintains accurate medical records, and supports the interdisciplinary treatment team in delivering quality client care in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor clients for side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Conduct nursing assessments and obtain vital signs as required.
  • Monitor clients during detoxification and treatment services for withdrawal symptoms and medical concerns.
  • Document all nursing services, medication administration, and client observations in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs).
  • Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses with medical evaluations and treatments.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and accountability of medications.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and crisis situations.
  • Educate clients on medications, health conditions, wellness, and treatment recommendations.
  • Coordinate medical appointments, laboratory work, and follow-up care as needed.
  • Maintain infection control and safety standards throughout the facility.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and agency regulations, including confidentiality requirements under HIPAA.
