Registered Nurse (RN) - General

Job Duties Clinical Care Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Administer medications safely according to physician orders and protocols
  • Perform treatments and procedures (wound care, IV starts, catheterizations, etc.)
  • Monitor patients' conditions and report changes to the healthcare team
  • Respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively
  • Document all care provided in the electronic health record system
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions
  • Provide discharge instructions and medication education
  • Teach self-care techniques and health maintenance strategies
  • Explain procedures and treatments before performing them
  • Offer guidance on lifestyle modifications for chronic disease management
Coordination of Care
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Coordinate patient care between departments and during shift changes

Requirements Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Requirements Education and Licensures
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program (BSN often preferred by many employers)
  • Current and valid RN license issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
    • Must pass the NCLEX-RN examination
    • Complete criminal background check
    • Meet continuing education requirements for license renewal
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Depending on specialty:
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or other specialty certifications
Skills and Abilities
