Job Summary
A Staff Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, administering medications, assisting in medical procedures, and ensuring the overall well-being of patients. The role involves monitoring patient conditions, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver safe and effective nursing care.
1. Patient Care- Provide direct nursing care to patients according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Assess patient health status and monitor vital signs regularly.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, feeding, and mobility.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans in coordination with doctors.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
- Ensure correct medication dosage, route, and timing.
- Monitor patients for drug reactions and side effects
. - Maintain proper medication records.
- Observe and record patient symptoms and changes in condition.
- Monitor vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Report any abnormal findings to the physician or nurse in-charge.
- Assist doctors during medical procedures and treatments.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, and examinations.
- Provide post-procedure care and monitor recovery.
- Follow hospital infection prevention and control protocols
. - Practice proper hand hygiene and sterilization procedures
. - Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document nursing care, treatments, medications, and observations.
- Ensure proper completion of nursing charts and reports.
- Educate patients and families about disease conditions and treatments.
- Provide instructions on medications, diet, and lifestyle changes.
- Teach patients about post-discharge care and follow-up requirements.
- Respond quickly to medical emergencies.
- Provide basic life support (BLS) and assist in resuscitation procedures.
- Coordinate with the healthcare team during emergency situations.
- Communicate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in nursing handovers and shift reports.
- Ensure continuity of patient care.
- Participate in hospital training programs and workshops.
- Keep updated with new nursing practices and healthcare guidelines.
- Follow ethical and professional standards of nursing practice.
