Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized wound care management for ICU patients, focusing on pressure injury prevention and treatment. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess, document, and implement wound care protocols in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and document wound stages, types, and progress while identifying opportunities for prevention and intervention.
  • Administer wound treatments and dressings, including advanced techniques such as debridement, VAC therapy, and use of growth factors.
  • Educate patients and families on wound management, ostomy care, and skin integrity preservation.
  • Collaborate with primary nurses, physicians, and other clinical staff during wound rounds and prevalence studies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation in EPIC, including pressure injury metrics and care interventions.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities related to wound care and pressure injury reduction.
Qualifications:
  • Hold an active NJ or Compact nursing license valid at placement.
  • Possess at least 1 year of clinical experience in wound care, including treatment and assessment.
  • Certified in BLS and wound care (CWCN or WOCN required).
  • Proficient in using EPIC for charting and documentation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pressure injury staging, wound management, and ostomy care.
  • Capable of working in an ICU environment with a focus on critical care procedures.
