The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
First established in 1901, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 665-bed qua ternary care teaching hospital that provides comprehensive health care for the region. The Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, teaching, and evaluating educational programs for all levels of professional, technical, and ancillary staff in a variety of critical care areas and hospital departments consistent with the hospital's mission, vision, philosophy, and core values.
Programs include orientation of new employees, in-service education, and continuing education offerings that maintain and improve competency and work performance.
Required:
- MSN or MSN-Nursing Education.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Med Surg / Telemetry.
- Experience in Education or Staff Development.
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Preferred:
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development.
- Completion of clinical experience in an NLN accredited school.
- Advanced certifications.
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification.
- An active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement.
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week.
- The Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse with clinical and educational expertise, managing a wide scope of patients.
- Has in-depth understanding of the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing Standards.
- Member of the Nursing Leadership team, supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and values and participating in shared governance.
- Responsible for the development and application of the standards of care and policies of the hospital to enhance quality of care.
- Primary function is educator, practitioner, consultant, and change agent; assesses data related to learner progress and develops group and individual learning plans.
- Serves as a clinical expert and resource/coach for nursing staff, fellow educators, management, allied professionals, and other healthcare providers.
- Possesses clinical experience, training, and education aligned with specialty practice area.
- Assists in onboarding, orientation, and clinical practice evaluation of ancillary staff.
- Participates in the Nurse Residency Program.
- May assist in additional departments as clinically requested by nursing leadership; demonstrates teaching ability.
