About The Role
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who, through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician, is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff, the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that include ethical decision making, quality assessment and improvement, self‑evaluation, leadership, and research. The APN is self‑directed and seeks necessary knowledge and skills to maintain competency.
In the Hematology/Oncology practice the APN uses critical judgment for comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribing pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments, directly managing patients with hematologic or oncologic diseases. The APN promotes wellness through research, education, and works autonomously and within interdisciplinary teams.
- The APN is a licensed healthcare provider operating under a written collaborative agreement and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office.
- The APN upholds professional standards including ethical decision‑making, participation in quality assessment and improvement initiatives, ongoing self‑evaluation, leadership responsibilities, and involvement in research.
- The APN is self‑directed and actively pursues knowledge and skills necessary to maintain clinical competence.
- In the Hematology/Oncology practice, the APN performs comprehensive health assessments.
- The APN develops differential diagnoses.
- The APN prescribes pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments.
- The APN manages care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.
- The APN applies critical clinical judgment in direct patient management.
- The APN promotes patient wellness through conducting and contributing to research and providing patient and staff education.
- Current Registered/Professional Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Jersey.
- Completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited NP/APN program.
- Eligibility for national certification as an NP/APN through an approved certifying body.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
- Preferred certifications:
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) / ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate.
- Radiation Therapy Certificate.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
- Participation in professional and/or specialty organizations preferred.
The expected hourly rate is $75.00, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law.
