Mental Health Staff Nurse (RN) – Part Time
Northern State Prison, Newark, NJ – University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Part Time Mental Health Staff Nurse (RN) to provide direct and indirect nursing care for inpatient and ambulatory populations, with an emphasis on psychiatric and general health needs.

Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to inmates, addressing physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs for adults (18‑64 years) and geriatrics (65+).
- Use psychiatric standards of nursing practice to develop individualized treatment plans, goals, and interventions for each patient.
- Implement nursing actions that promote, maintain, or restore physical and mental health across all age groups.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care providers to evaluate patient responses and ensure quality care.
- Perform duties related to milieu and safety, documented through specific paperwork and supervisory observation.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in New Jersey.
- Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Valid driver’s license; must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation between sites.
Must be capable of performing CPR for at least ten minutes and physically lift/assist patients up to 50 pounds, including carrying an emergency treatment bag weighing up to 45 pounds.

Grade 01D – Minimum: 37,230;
Mid Range: 46,540;
Maximum: 54,050 (Annual, Full Time Equivalents).
