Job OverviewThe Assistant Director of Patient Care is a full‑time night position in the Nursing B6 Step Down unit, located at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. The role reports to the Director of Patient Care and supports clinical operations during night shifts.
Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 665‑bed qua ternary teaching hospital serving the region with more than 800 physicians, 3,200 employees, and 150 volunteers.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- New Jersey RN License
- Cardiac or Telemetry experience required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- 1‑3 years of related clinical practice
- Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing, 2+ years of management or leadership experience, relevant certification (Med./Surg.
-Telemetry), goal‑oriented mindset, demonstrated leadership, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- BLS upon hire and ACLS within 6 months of start date
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
- Full‑time nights, 36 hours per week – salaried position
- Monday‑Friday shift; may require weekend/holiday coverage
- Assist the Director in overseeing unit clinical operations
- Manage day‑to‑day operations, clinical staff support, and quality improvement initiatives
- Plan, implement, and evaluate department operations and staff activities
- Participate in planning, budgeting, education, and human resources activities
- Ensure compliance with patient‑care quality standards and regulatory bodies
- Deliver age‑appropriate nursing care in line with hospital policies and programs
- Participate in nursing quality assurance activities
