Position Location

This position is located onsite at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey.

Job Overview

The QC/Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting the QC/Safety Manager in the development and implementation of Quality/Safety Training and Compliance Programs, Facility Inspections, technical assistance, complaint resolution, incident investigations, Safety and Quality training and special projects as assigned.

  • Work hours are subject to change with evening and/or weekend work as needed.
  • Work may entail heights, proximity to heavy equipment, demolition and construction hazards, dust, mold, elevated noise levels and may be performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Responsible for Quality and Safety compliance issues as they apply to operation of the contract.
Responsibilities Essential

Job Duties
  • Assists the Safety Manager to develop, update and implement all safety/QC procedures and programs, including safe lifting, accident avoidance, confined space entry, fall protection, PPE, hot work, fire protection, workplace safety/QC inspections, accident investigations, HAZCOM, SDS safety, excavation safety, Fall Prevention, BBP exposure control, personnel/material sampling, use of direct read monitoring instrumentation, heavy equipment/forklift/crane/manlift/confined space safe operations, electrical safety, business contingency planning, spill prevention, stormwater systems and other OSHA/Environmental/QC safety compliance plans.

    Handles physical security checks of CCSL buildings at the end of each day.
  • Conducts continuous improvement activities including corrective and preventative actions, development and delivery of monthly and specialty training programs designed to meet Quality & Safety Plans.
  • Identifies and evaluates non‑conforming project work, services and recommends corrective actions. Possesses knowledge of generally accepted standards of workmanship in a construction/maintenance environment.
  • Coordinates programs for Environmental, Biological, Chemical and Hazardous Waste Safety Management. Responds to emergency situations involving injuries, property damage, hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, etc.; prepares detailed reports of findings, corrective actions and recommendations.
  • Works to fulfill the requirement of the Chugach safety and quality programs and corresponding plans, including facilitating accident prevention programs, evacuation procedures and Safety/QC reporting.
  • Trains employees in safety and quality control procedures/regulations and best practices while providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
  • Investigates and reports on all accidents, injuries, near‑misses/good catches, and hazardous situations as required using risk assessment techniques.
  • Prepares and updates quality control checklists and self‑inspection checklists.
