ABOUT

THE ROLE

Techno is looking for a Quality Inspector to support large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects throughout New York and New Jersey. This role will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, verifying quality standards, documenting field inspections, and supporting compliance with project specifications and industry requirements across active construction environments.

The ideal candidate has strong field inspection experience, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and project teams to maintain high standards of quality and workmanship.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Perform field inspections to verify construction work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, standards, and approved procedures.
  • Monitor construction activities, materials, workmanship, and installation practices across active infrastructure and transportation projects.
  • Document inspection findings, deficiencies, corrective actions, and daily field observations through detailed reports and tracking systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors, construction managers, engineers, and project stakeholders regarding quality-related issues and resolutions.
  • Review inspection documentation, material certifications, testing reports, and quality records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout project delivery.
  • Participate in field meetings, walkthroughs, audits, and punch list activities as needed.
  • Track non-conformance items and support follow-up inspections to verify corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, agency standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support project closeout activities including turnover documentation and final quality verification.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of inspection or quality assurance/quality control experience within transportation, infrastructure, heavy civil, or construction projects.
  • Experience working on public-sector or agency-driven construction programs strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction inspection procedures, quality documentation, testing standards, and field coordination processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation.
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic inspection/documentation systems.
  • Certifications such as NICET, OSHA, ICC, ACI, or other relevant industry certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to work in active field environments across New York and New Jersey project locations.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $40 - $70 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
