Job Title
Analytical Research and Development Chemist
Job DescriptionThe Analytical Chemist will collaborate with a dedicated project team of chemists in the laboratory to analyze and develop HPLC and GC methods for assays, impurities, dissolution, residual solvents testing, and particle size distribution of active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and finished dosage forms.
Responsibilities- Perform method development, method validation, and stability testing, including report writing for various dosage forms such as tablets, hard gelatin capsules, oral/topical liquids, oral suspensions, powders for oral suspensions, and nasal products with minimal supervision.
- Support the product development team in creating new products.
- Identify and characterize unknown impurities in drug products and substances.
- Independently conduct method development, validation, and stability testing for various dosage forms.
- Conduct elemental impurity testing using ICP‑MS/ICP‑OES.
- Troubleshoot analytical issues to achieve desired results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field; a Master's Degree is a plus.
- 3-10 years of experience working as an R&D Chemist in a pharmaceutical company.
- Operational and technical expertise in developing tests such as HPLC, GC, dissolution, particle size distribution, etc.
- Experience in pharmaceutical method development, validation, and stability testing.
- Ability to write reports suitable for regulatory submission with minimal supervision.
Skills & Qualifications
- Capability in method development, validation, and transfer.
- Experience with various dosage forms including tablets, hard gelatin capsules, oral/topical liquids, oral suspensions, powders for oral suspensions, and nasal products.
The role is based in Somerset, New Jersey, at one of the fifteen commercial manufacturing sites globally, which is the only commercial manufacturing facility in the United States for this company. The work is primarily conducted in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals, reagents, and solvents. The position may occasionally require lifting up to 20 pounds.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Somerset, NJ.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
