Position SummaryThe Hourly Data Analyst
- Economic Impact Evaluation will support a grant-funded project conducted in collaboration with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA). The selected candidate will assist with data collection, analysis, economic impact assessment, and preparation of a report required under New Jersey Economic Recovery Act (NJERA) legislation. This position is ideal for an individual with experience in data analysis, program evaluation, public policy, economics, or economic development research who can work independently and manage project tasks with limited supervision.
Functions
- Collect, organize, and analyze program and economic data.
- Assist with economic impact assessments and related research activities.
- Support evaluation of economic development programs and initiatives.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Prepare tables, charts, summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to the development of findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Assist with preparation of the final report required under NJERA legislation.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.
- Maintain project records and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Master's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience with data collection, management, and analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard data analysis tools.
- Project management and evaluation experience of at least five years.
- Expertise with IMPLAN software with at least two years experience.
- Experience with Assessment of Governmental Economic Development Programs.
- Experience with Data Collection and Analysis of NJEDA Programs.
- Strong written communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to organize information, manage deadlines, and work independently.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
- PhD degree in a related field.
- Experience with program evaluation, economic development, public policy, or applied research projects.
- Experience working with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, universities, or research institutions.
- Familiarity with economic development programs and incentive-based initiatives.
- Experience preparing research reports or evaluation studies.
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate/range for this position is $35-$50 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
