Temporary Research Assistant (Research)
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant (Research) in the Department of Medicine – Infectious Disease within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). The Temporary Assistant (Research) will perform data management and programming tasks. The data management tasks include using SAS programming language for quality assurance of collected data (clinical, laboratory, demographic), using Tableau software for creating and maintaining dashboards, routine data management tasks for data transmitted from the international sites, manuscript development, proposal assistance and other relevant scientific activities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works with Data Managers and research coordinators to develop SAS scripts for quality assurance and quality control activities. Works with our staff and stakeholders to create ad hoc databases for analysis using programming language. Creates and maintains interactive dashboards on Tableau under DOMC staff supervision. Works with investigators, statisticians and study coordinators in design and set-up of case report forms (CRFs) for specific clinical, translational, and basic science protocols.
Assists study coordinators and data managers in preparing appropriate and detailed standard operating procedures, training manuals and other materials for study conduct and data collection in the clinic, field and laboratory. Reviews incoming completed case report forms (CRFs) for accuracy and completion from the field sites.

Mid Range Salary - 75.00
Maximum Salary - 150.00

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma with current enrollment in undergraduate studies required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communications skills are required. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required. Ability to set priorities and work under pressure to meet time deadlines is required. Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently. Demonstrates flexibility to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with current enrollment in graduate studies preferred. Proficiency with SAS/R programming language, Microsoft Office software applications including word processing and excel, online searching, and email, and fluency with learning new software applications highly desirable. Understanding of biostatistics and epidemiology. Some basic understanding of data management in clinical research. Experience working in other software platforms relevant to clinical research (Freezer Pro, Tableau, REDCap, SAS, R, Microsoft Office and internet applications).
