Our client, a highly respected, multi-office law firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager in the Greater Newark, NJ Area to partner with attorneys and practice group leaders in driving strategic growth, expanding client relationships, and increasing market visibility.
This is not a traditional marketing role. The ideal candidate understands the business of legal services and has experience supporting attorneys through sophisticated business development initiatives, client pursuits, competitive intelligence, proposals, rankings, and strategic marketing campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES- Partner directly with attorneys and practice group leaders to develop and execute strategic business development plans.
- Drive initiatives that support client acquisition, client retention, and revenue growth.
- Lead the development of winning RFPs, RFIs, proposals, pitches, capability statements, and client presentations.
- Conduct competitive intelligence, market research, and client analysis to identify business opportunities and emerging trends.
- Prepare detailed target reports, client profiles, industry research, and market intelligence for attorneys and leadership.
- Track proposal activity, win/loss data, and business development metrics to identify trends and improve success rates.
- Develop compelling marketing collateral that effectively positions practice groups and differentiates the organization in the marketplace.
- Coordinate submissions for Chambers, Legal 500, Best Lawyers, and other legal rankings and directories, collaborating with outside public relations resources as needed.
- Maintain attorney biographies, representative matters, experience databases, and marketing content.
- Utilize CRM tools to manage relationships, business development activity, pipeline reporting, and client engagement.
- Identify innovative marketing and business development opportunities that align with strategic practice goals.
- Ensure consistency, collaboration, and best practices across multiple office locations.
- Minimum 5 years of business development and/or legal marketing experience.
- Experience supporting attorneys, partners, or practice groups within a law firm or professional services organization.
- Demonstrated success developing proposals, RFP responses, pitch books, and executive presentations.
- Strong strategic writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Exceptional project management, organization, and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Executive presence with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience with legal or professional services CRM platforms.
- Familiarity with Monitor Suite and/or Redwood Analytics.
- Experience preparing submissions for legal rankings and industry directories.
- Base Salary: $135,000 – $165,000 Per Year (Based on Experience)
