Overview

The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This role supports research, teaching, and outreach activities across a broad range of scientific disciplines, with a focus on plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture, and related fields.

• Assist in the setup of experimental field plots in cranberry and blueberry fields.
• Flag zones and bushes for spray trials and collect recurring samples.
• Assist in greenhouse plant maintenance, including daily watering, occasional pruning, and fertilizing.
• Aid in data collection and data entry for field experiments throughout the growing season.
• Assist in laboratory work as needed, making media dishes and plating plant samples.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of proper procedures and methods for field and laboratory experiments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
• Ability to work outdoors in heat.

Employment type:

Temporary Staff Appointment – Hourly

Working hours:

Up to 19.5 hours per week (part‑time)

Shift: On‑site work arrangement required.

Pay: $15.92 – $25.00 per hour (salary determined by qualifications, experience, and availability of funds)
