Pay Range: $21.15 - $25.23 per hour

The RWJBH Security Officer Sergeant supports and oversees the shift Security team. The officer balances security protocols with understanding and respect for a healthcare setting, ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff while maintaining a positive attitude in all interactions.

• Lead officer training and record keeping.
• Reviews all Security Officer's reports for completeness and forwards them to Security Management.
• Ensures officers are in proper uniform and equipment is operational.
• Escalates irregular activities to the Security Leadership Team.
• Designates department representative at committees and meetings.
• Assists staff scheduling, monitors overtime, call-outs, and tardiness.
• Conducts patrols and monitors facilities, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts.
• Provides professional customer service while addressing security threats.
• Manages access control systems, performs data entry, and uses Microsoft Office for incident reporting.
• Responds to emergencies, participating in crisis de-escalation.
• Other duties: duties may change with or without notice.

Day shift, 7:00 am–3:30 pm.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
• Ability to acquire certification for de‑escalation training within 90 days of hire.

• Minimum one year of customer service, security experience, or prior military service.
• Proficiency in keyboarding/data entry and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish, Portuguese, Polish) are preferred but not required.
