Substitute Armed School Security Officers

Responsible for patrolling school facilities and grounds to prevent disruptive or illegal actions, accessing restricted areas, and preventing theft or vandalism. Performs duties as per job description as well as any other duties assigned under the supervision of the Director of School Safety and Security, Superintendent or building Principal.

• Patrol school facilities and grounds.
• Prevent disruptive or illegal actions, theft, vandalism.
• Access restricted areas as authorized.
• Work with groups and individuals on matters of security and crisis management.
• Maintain order and work with students and staff to ensure safety.
• Perform duties as directed by the Director of School Safety and Security, Superintendent, or building Principal.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• 25 years of service in a Law Enforcement role and retired in good standing.
• Must hold or obtain Armed SORA Certification.
• Knowledge of security measures, fire prevention, and crowd control.
• Ability to maintain order and work with groups and individuals on security matters.
• Must pass psychological testing, drug evaluation, and a criminal history background check.
• Possess and maintain a valid State of New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun.

Per Diem Position Non-Tenure Track. Hourly rate $26.
