Stick WELDER (SMAW)

* job pay based on experience

As a Welder at Maximum Fire Escapes, you’ll be working both in our fabrication shop
and in the field
, performing structural welding (SMAW) on fire escapes. You'll handle cutting, fitting, and welding, often on rusted or deformed steel
, and must be comfortable welding in all positions (flat, vertical, overhead) and e structural repairs are complete, you will also be required to surface prep, scrape, and paint the fire escapes. If you are not willing to paint, this is not the right job for you.

• Perform structural welding (SMAW) on-site and in-shop
• Read and interpret measurements and project specs
• Use power tools and perform basic construction tasks
• Assist in painting of fire escapes post-repair
• Work safely at heights on fire escape systems
• Some jobs require overnight stays
• Lead or manage a small crew (for advancement-track candidates)
• Weekend availability as needed
• We primarily work on fire escapes, so candidates must not have a fear of heights

• 3+ years of SMAW welding experience (required)
• Ability to weld (SMAW) in all positions
• Comfortable welding on aged, rusted, or uneven steel
• Experience with basic construction tools and tasks
• Comfortable working at heights
• Valid driver’s license;
  clean driving record
• Willingness to take on some jobs that may require overnight stays (with per diem and travel expenses covered)
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset

• Metal fabrication experience
• Leadership or crew management experience
• OSHA certification or safety training
• NYC DOB
