As a Trailer Mechanic at Rockstar Recruiting, you'll play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safety of trailers used in our logistics operations. Your primary responsibilities will include diagnosing mechanical issues, performing regular maintenance, and working closely with our logistics team to minimize downtime, enhance trailer utilization, and ensure full compliance with safety regulations. Your efforts will directly contribute to the operational success and safety of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trailer Inspections & Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect trailers to identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues. Perform routine maintenance including lubrication, brake adjustments, tire rotations, and fluid replacements. Keep meticulous records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on trailers, such as issues with brakes, suspension systems, lighting, wiring, and other components. Use specialized tools and equipment to efficiently perform repairs.
- Preventative Maintenance Program:
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for trailers, ensuring all inspections and maintenance tasks are completed according to manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices. Ensure trailers comply with safety regulations and are performing optimally.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Accurately record all maintenance and repair work, including work orders, parts used, and labor hours. Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities, repair costs, and downtime to assist in performance analysis and decision-making.
- Parts & Inventory Management:
- Monitor trailer parts and supply inventories, ordering necessary components and maintaining relationships with suppliers for timely part availability. Conduct regular inventory checks and address any discrepancies.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines and industry regulations when performing maintenance and repairs. Ensure trailers are fully compliant with local, state, and federal safety standards, as well as certification and documentation requirements.
- Education/Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in trailer mechanics is preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a Trailer Mechanic or in a similar role, ideally in a logistics or transportation environment. Strong knowledge of trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic components.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues with the right tools and equipment.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills for team and vendor interactions.
- The role may require working in a repair shop, maintenance facility, and occasionally outdoors.
- Expect to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects regularly.
- Comfortable using various tools and equipment while adhering to safety protocols to minimize risk of injury.
- Exposure to noise, fumes, and hazardous materials may occur, and the mechanic must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment.
