Position Overview
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining commercial and industrial HVAC systems across a variety of facilities. This role focuses on delivering reliable service, preventative maintenance, and system optimization to ensure maximum performance and minimal downtime.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technician with strong experience in diagnostics, repairs, and system maintenance, and the ability to work independently while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, split systems, and air handling units.
- Perform preventive maintenance services to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
- Troubleshoot issues related to electrical systems, controls, compressors, motors, and refrigerant circuits.
- Conduct system startups, testing, and commissioning of HVAC equipment.
- Inspect equipment and identify opportunities to improve performance and energy efficiency.
- Respond to service calls in a timely manner, including emergency service requests.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding system issues, repair options, and maintenance plans.
- Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, tools, and jobsite.
- 3+ years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician, preferably in commercial or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, controls, and HVAC components.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- EPA Certification required (Universal preferred).
- Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience working on chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and large commercial systems.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and controls.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and service contracts.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
