Job Description
A small dairy located in Illinois is searching for a Herdsman for their operation. This position is responsible for AI breeding, preg checking, calf and heifer health care (dehorning, tagging, etc.), milking, and checking on problem and fresh cows. Must have herd health skills and be able to spot, diagnose, and treat sick cows and give IVs, shots and administer medications.
Other responsibilities include feed mixing and feeding, bedding and cleaning pens and moving calves. Basic computer and record keeping skills.
Herdsman position - Illinois
$30,000 - $40,000
QualificationsMust have current dairy experience to be considered for this position.
- Herd health skills
- AI breeding experience
- Preg checks a plus
- Feed / Nutrition knowledge
- Hoof trimming a plus
- Basic Computer experience
- Equipment operation experience a plus
- Mechanical background preferred
