Position Summary

The SCADA Instrumentation Technician III is an entry‑level position that will assist in maintaining a secure, standardized, and reliable Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) environment. The incumbent will be responsible for communication effectiveness, automation system integration, communication hardware upgrades, and production automation hardware repairs and upgrades.

Minimum Requirements

Must be able to apply technical skills to undertake system PLC/HMI programming and commissioning for a number of control systems utilizing Rockwell, Allen Bradley, and Wonderware PLCs and HMI platforms. Must have a solid working knowledge of SCADA, field automation, measurements, instrumentation, field communications, and the electrical trade. Must be able to program, install, troubleshoot, and perform field repairs to the SCADA system.

Must have knowledge of the occupational and safety hazards and precautions involved in performing SCADA system work. Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and specifications needed for making installations and performing major repair work. Must have experience diagnosing wastewater treatment plant supervisory control issues. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

Must have solid computer skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook), be able to work independently on projects, and be available for emergencies and job assignments on a 24‑hour basis.

Education

High school or vocational school diploma or equivalency certificate required. Additional education certifications preferred.

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of SCADA, instrumentation, control devices, and electrical systems. Must have PLC experience (Allen‑Bradley preferred).

Physical Demands

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canisters, dust masks, and SCBA (Self‑Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy.

Conditions

Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.

Compensation

The expected base pay range for this position is $79,643 to $99,704. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
