Diesel Technician

Hub Truck Rental, a leading truck leasing and rental company, celebrating more than 65 years in business, is seeking a diesel mechanic in our Newark, NJ location.

• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
• Maintain work area appearance and safety
• Perform diesel repairs, service & diagnostics
• Servicing customers
• Drive to Road calls
• Maintain certifications and seek further training classes and ASE certifications
• Prior diesel mechanic experience
• CDL Class B – driving throughout Long Island
• Diagnose malfunctions to ensure proper operation
• Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
• Inspect trucks to ensure they are in proper working condition
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose
• Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards

• 3+ years of automotive or diesel mechanic experience (preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Diesel Mechanic / Technician training not required but is a plus
• A valid driver’s license is required
• CDL a plus
• Union Shop exposure a plus
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and co-workers
