Role Description The Heating Air Conditioning Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Newark, NJ. The technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment in residential and commercial settings. Daily tasks include diagnosing system issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, testing system performance, and completing necessary adjustments or repairs. The role involves working with electrical and plumbing components, handling refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations, and ensuring all work meets safety and code requirements.
The technician also communicates with customers about recommended services, provides clear explanations of work performed, and accurately documents service calls and parts used.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve HVAC and refrigeration system issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of plumbing principles related to HVAC systems, including condensate drainage and piping connections.
- Experience with preventive maintenance practices to extend equipment life and improve system performance.
- Understanding of EPA regulations and proper handling of refrigerants; EPA certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of electricity, including wiring, controls, and safe use of testing instruments.
- Prior HVAC technician experience in residential or commercial environments is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or HVAC certification is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites.
- Capacity to work safely in varying environmental conditions and to lift and move equipment as required.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
