HVAC Journeyman
The HVAC Journeyman is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems at assigned client facilities. This position requires an experienced technician capable of independently diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues while providing safe, reliable, and high-quality service.
The Journeyman will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to service calls, identify equipment deficiencies, and work with customers and other ABM team members to maintain equipment reliability and facility operations.

Pay: 48.73/hr the pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air-handling units, rooftop units, split systems, package units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control-system failures.
- Troubleshoot motors, compressors, contractors, relays, transformers, thermostats, sensors, switches, actuators, and related components.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, leak detection, and other refrigerant-related service in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Inspect equipment and identify conditions that could lead to failures, excessive energy consumption, safety concerns, or operational interruptions.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and sequence-of-operation documentation.
- Utilize HVAC diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, refrigerant gauges, temperature and pressure instruments, and other standard trade tools.
- Complete assigned work orders and accurately document labor, materials, equipment conditions, repairs, and recommendations.
- Respond to emergency service calls and equipment failures as required.
- Coordinate with supervisors, building engineers, vendors, and other trades when repairs require additional support.
- Communicate equipment conditions, repair recommendations, and operational concerns professionally to customers and ABM leadership.
- Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, and company-issued materials in a safe and professional condition.
- Follow ABM, customer, OSHA, environmental, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices and less-experienced HVAC technicians when assigned.
- Perform other duties consistent with the HVAC Journeyman classification.
Qualifications
- Journeyman-level commercial/industrial HVAC-R experience.
- Currently, and in good standing, a Journeyman under the UA Local 475 or willing to organize at the applicable union requirements for classification at this level.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing complex HVAC equipment.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and HVAC controls.
- Ability to independently diagnose HVAC equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective action.
