Your ImpactAs a UPS Field Service Engineer you will deliver preventive maintenance, emergency service, commissioning support, and battery services on UPS systems, DC power systems, battery plants, PDUs, and static transfer switches in mission‑critical environments including data centers, telecommunications facilities, healthcare facilities, and industrial sites. You will diagnose complex power system issues, restore equipment, and build long‑term customer confidence through professionalism and technical expertise.
CoreResponsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and related critical power equipment.
- Diagnose electrical and control system faults using schematics, test equipment, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices.
- Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and associated power infrastructure.
- Respond to emergency service calls and restore customer systems to operational status while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Perform battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services.
- Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications accurately and professionally.
- Develop strong customer relationships through technical expertise, responsiveness, and exceptional service delivery.
- Mentor junior technicians and support field training efforts.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.
- Support additional field service activities as business and customer needs evolve.
- Military veterans with backgrounds in electronics, avionics, communications, radar, power generation, electrical maintenance, nuclear power, or related technical specialties are highly encouraged to apply.
- Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on experience servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switch gear, data center infrastructure, or other mission‑critical electrical infrastructure.
- Experience supporting equipment from manufacturers such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or comparable critical power platforms.
- Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience using multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing equipment, and other diagnostic tools.
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system failures.
- Strong customer‑facing communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proven commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to travel within the assigned service territory.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or moving equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Comfortable working in confined or restricted‑access areas and around energized electrical equipment.
- Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation and respond to customer emergencies as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for customer facilities.
