- Complete preventive maintenance workload for assigned equipment
- Maintain accurate device control records and scheduled and non-scheduled work-order data
- Evaluate repairs and determine cost-effective actions to maximize equipment uptime
- Identify and obtain parts, supplies, and technical resources for equipment service and repair
- Repair defective or malfunctioning biomedical equipment
- Provide in-service training to clinical engineering service technicians
- Maintain technical literature, standards, specifications, and supporting documentation
- Evaluate and monitor work performed by outside service providers
- Participate in equipment evaluations, acquisitions, and installations
- Assist with recall and alert identification and management
- Respond to maintenance requests, perform initial assessments, verify problems, and troubleshoot
- Review FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and other device recall notifications
- Review incident reports and take actions supporting patient safety
- Attend vendor-sponsored technical training schools
- Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives
- Participate in on-call rotation and upgrade support
- Work flexible schedules and travel between multiple business locations as needed
- High School Diploma/GED
- Progressive experience repairing and performing preventive maintenance on general and specialized biomedical equipment
- Knowledge of state-of-the‑art electronic and test equipment
- Knowledge of quality assurance and preventive maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of alternative parts providers for electronic or electromechanical equipment
- Knowledge of computer software-based work‑order tracking systems
- Ability to use vendor service documentation, technical manuals, and electronics parts/specification materials
- Ability to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems
- Ability to work in a team environment and remain self-motivated and self-disciplined
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
- Must be able to visit multiple business locations, dependent on employment location
- Flexible work schedule required for early morning or evening repairs
- Some after‑hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required
- Participation in weekly after‑hours and weekend on‑call rotation
- Associate degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields preferred
- 1+ years of progressive electronic and/or electromechanical repair and preventive maintenance experience preferred
- CBET and/or Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certification, vendor/OEM repair or training certifications, and GE PCS/Telemetry experience are additional qualifications or pluses
Demonstrates expertise in preventive maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment, with a strong focus on troubleshooting, technical documentation, and compliance with safety standards. Capable of managing multiple priorities while providing in‑service training and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
