Part-Time Licensed Elevator Mechanic; NJ EEMW

Job Description About the role

Home Stride Mobility installs home accessibility and mobility equipment across the northern NJ and NY metro area: stairlifts, vertical platform lifts (VPLs), inclined platform lifts, and residential elevators.

We're looking for a NJ-licensed elevator, escalator, and moving walkway (EEMW) mechanic to work with us part-time as the licensed mechanic of record on elevator-subcode permits, and to provide code‑compliance oversight of our installations. This is an oversight and advisory role, not full-time install labor. It suits an experienced mechanic who wants flexible work on a project basis.

• Review the scope of work and elevator layout drawings before permit submission
• Serve as the licensed mechanic of record on UCC F150 elevator‑subcode permit applications, with your license number and expiration on the permit
• Supervise our install crew by daily contact, consistent with N.J.A.C. 13:44M-5.2 (electronic contact is acceptable for residential platform lifts and private‑residence elevators)
• Attend and support municipal and NJ DCA subcode inspections
• Advise on ASME A18.1 (platform lifts) and A17.1 §5.3 (private residence elevator) compliance

• Active NJ EEMW mechanic license in good standing, since the license number is required on permits
• Working knowledge of ASME A18.1 platform lifts and A17.1 §5.3 private residence elevators
• Comfortable taking residential jobs in [your service area, e.g., Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, Morris]
• Reliable, responsive communication, because daily contact is needed during active installs

• Familiarity with Bruno, Harmar, Savaria, or Ameri Glide platform lifts and residential elevators
• Prior permit and inspection coordination with NJ municipalities or the DCA elevator subcode

Part‑time and project‑driven. Volume grows as our pipeline does. Expect a handful of permits and inspections per month to start, scaling from there.
