OverviewRutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence‑based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC is one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, with 15 sites and a budget of $260 million. Services include inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.

The Program Manager provides administrative and clinical supervision to program staff, develops and monitors programs delivering clinical services consistent with evidence‑based practices, and ensures program viability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Direct the administrative and clinical organization of the UBHC Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments.
- Delegate responsibility and authority to others.
- Plan, train, and supervise staff engaged in professional and paraprofessional delivery of program services.
- Monitor staff performance, complete Performance Evaluations, and oversee ongoing staff training and development.
- Schedule and coordinate all staff activities daily.
- Ensure staff compliance with documentation requirements.
- Participate in scheduled staff training and supervisory meetings and deliver training to staff.
- Represent the department in the community and speak before groups on relevant matters.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in a related mental health discipline and five (5) years of postgraduate experience in a behavioral health care setting.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience (a doctorate may substitute for two years).
Certifications/Licenses
- Clinical license that allows independent service provision (Psychology, LPC, LCSW, LMFT).
- Active New Jersey certification/licensure for social work graduates.
- Eligibility for psychiatric screener certification in New Jersey.
- Valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Outstanding human relations and leadership skills; ability to function in a team environment.
- Knowledge of achieving superior performance in a unionized environment.
Physical Demands:
Requires walking, standing, and bending; ability to stand and walk for long periods; travel within New Jersey.
